A flush cut still leaves the stump. We grind below grade, deep enough for what you're planning next: grass, sod, beds, or hardscape each need a different depth, and we set the grind to match. Surface roots and knuckles get ground too, not just the trunk circle, so the mower stops finding surprises.
Before we grind
Sprinkler lines and shallow utilities get flagged first. Grindings are hauled off or left as free mulch, your call. Multiple stumps priced together always come out cheaper per stump, so point out every one on the walk-through.
